Since the Workshop . . .

The recommendations from our workshop in Costa Rica are now being implemented. First of all, the proposed large dam on the Tempisque River is NOT going to be built. A training program for local governments, state agency personnel, and rice farmers is being developed; social and economic aspects are now incorporated in any discussions about integrated watershed management in the Tempisque River basin; and about 100 hectares of wetlands are being restored.
