Sustainable Oceans, Coasts and Waterways Program

The oceans, coasts, and inland waterways of the United States, and the economic and ecological resources that they support, provide enormous benefits to the Nation and the world. Americans depend on the oceans, coasts, and inland waterways for a wide range of resources and activities, including productive fisheries, global trade, coastal recreation, mineral and energy production, and ecological diversity. In recent decades, however, the quality, sustainability, and well-being of these vital areas have declined.

Since its inception, The Heinz Center has brought the expertise and commitment of the four sectors to bear on the challenges that face U.S. ocean policy, as well as on coastal and inland waterways issues.
